Category 6
Category 6, or "Cat-6" cable as it is often referred to, is designed to be used with todays gigabit (1000Mb / 1000Base-T) network interfaces. A Cat 6 cable is fully backward compatible with earlier Cat 5/5e and Cat 3 standards since the cable is functionally the same, containing 4 twisted-pairs of copper wire, making it also suitable for 10Base-T and 100Base-T applications.
